To find out how you can attend Phoenix Comicon (PHXCC) FOR FREE, just keep reading!

Kids Need To Read Volunteer Opportunities
Kids Need to Read (KNTR) is the official charity beneficiary of the PHXCC. They will have a booth at PHXCC and are running several events such as the Geek Prom and Star Wars Games. Plus, we're working with them to create something special for all the Browncoats roaming the Con. KNTR needs volunteers to help run all these events and they've asked for our help! I have set up a Google spreadsheet with the dates and times they need people. Here is the link.

Sign up with your name and contact info under the time you wish to volunteer. If you do not wish to provide your contact info on a public document, you can e-mail me personally (elysee1013 at gmail dot com). Just make sure to put your name in the time slot you want so we can hold it for you. Save and close the document once you have added your information. Please do not edit any other information on the document. If there is a certain time you can volunteer but it is already taken, email me and I will see what we can work out. :)

So what's in it for you?
Showing your true Browncoat colors by helping a charity organization who is creating a culture of reading for children by providing inspiring books to under-funded schools, libraries, and literacy programs across the United States, especially those serving disadvantaged children.

Need another reason?
How about one of our Big Damn Heroes is the co-founder? Nathan Fillion along with founder P.J. Haarsma and fellow co-founder Denise Gary started KNTR to help provide books to children across the United States. I urge you to check out their web page to read about this great charity.

Still not enough?
How about the chance to get into PHXCC FREE for your services? You will be eligible for free convention passes, according to the following PHXCC rules. If you qualify for enough hours, KNTR will take care of getting your passes for you

PHXCC Rules - 4 hours per day or 12 hours total qualifies volunteers for a full event pass. A single 4 hours shift qualifies them for a single day pass. For anyone working less than that, they would be given a volunteer badge during their shift that they would need to turn in when finished. Normally, PHXCC requires volunteers to purchase a ticket for $20 and then they refund the money if the volunteers show up for their shift(s). They are waiving that requirement for KNTR volunteers. I will provide them with a list of those who qualify and they will provide me with the passes for everyone.

If a person works less than four hours, they will be given entry only during their volunteer shift. That would be fine for people who want to volunteer, but are not interested in attending the convention. Those who volunteer less than four hours on a given day would have to purchase a pass to attend the rest of the convention.

The free pass is for the same day of a volunteer's 4-hour shift (which does not have to be four hours in a row).

Group Rate Memberships
If we have at least 12 volunteers that need to purchase memberships, then we can register as a group together and get $5 off each membership purchased (so instead of each paying $30, we would each pay $25). We have until May 26th 2010 to purchase our group tickets at the discount price.

I've started another Google spreadsheet so people can sign up for this. Here's the link. If you don't want to provide your contact info on a public document just email me privately (elysee1013 at gmail dot com).

It may only be a five dollar savings but hey, five dollars might just be that geeky item you spot and cannot live without!
