So March's Shindig came and went and as usual it was a blast. Here's the details you missed from the CSTS 2009 meeting, the AZBC, inc. Meeting, the Bookmans Shindig, and the After-Shindig at Applebees:
Phoenix Can't Stop The Serenity 2009 Preliminary Meeting
Jennifer Anderson is this year's coordinator and has high hopes for another year of charity and friendship. There was a good turnout, most of which have helped with the event in the past. We look forward to seeing more new faces at the next meeting with new ideas and skills.
*We want to do it in September this year. This breaks from the June 23rd tradition established by the global planners of the event, but we believe it will give us more time to plan the event considering late spring is a busy time for many of us. It will also give us a better chance of bringing in more college students while they're still in town. A specific date has not yet been set but that will depend heavily on the venue.
*CSTS Global has gotten permission for the screening of Dr. Horrible's Singalong Blog along with Serenity. This is exciting as we believe it will draw new crowds for the chance to see Dr. Horrible on the big screen. We're not yet sure of the fees or the format it will come in yet.
*The idea was discussed that we would like a more communal atmosphere than a traditional movie theater. We discussed several parks and Drive-Ins we will be calling over the next few weeks to feel out the options. If you have feedback on this subject please let us know.
*We hope to make the event a little more scaled down than in the past, hopefully meaning less work for the volunteers. Last year's raffle, auction, and merch tables were a great success but burned out some of our best volunteers. We hope to be able to keep to a workload that's more tolerable for working adults.
*We are in desperate need of fund raising and sponsor ideas. It costs a lot of money to host an event like this, and while we appreciate our sponsors from the past we are constantly in need of new donors so as not to run our wells dry.
*Talking Points for those interested in contacting organizations will be coming soon to the volunteer planning group and the CSTS 2009 page of this website. If you are interested in getting involved, please contact the CSTS Coordinator through the just updated Contact section.
AZBC, inc. Meeting
The organization president was missing this month as he was detained by some people recognized by their remarkable skills and observational astuteness, but most of us there understood and forgave him. The meeting was pretty straight forward with a recap of the CSTS meeting and a report about the website you're reading now. It was noted that as the website develops, there may be a way to develop a format allowing us to hold our meetings on a private member page right here on the website, allowing us to not be tied to monthly meetings that are too far away for many members to attend.
It was also mentioned that the beginning of May will be the new year for membership. Annual dues will be due in May and nominations for next year's officers will begin within the next week or two. Jennifer will be posting who is eligible on the Member board soon. More details on that will certainly be forthcoming.
Shindig
As usual we had the card games, this month we tried out Curses which seemed to be a hit, and the geeky chatters about HDTVs and iPhones. The usual fun geeky stuff that makes our shindigs so unique. We do hope to bring more DVDs to watch next month for those who enjoy that part. If only Joss would make more musicals to sing along with.
After-Shindig
For those who haven't gotten the chance, very often the After-Shindig at some chaotically chosen restaurant is the most fun part of the night. This week we had 20 people invade Applebees on Central and Camelback and enjoy the rousing chatter. Good food, good beer, good friends, and good tips (silly place including gratuity not realizing Browncoats tip better than that!). We parted at around 12:30am with visions "Steve" and the Stargate still in our heads.

See you all in April! First Saturday of every month at Bookmans on Northern and 19th Ave. The meeting starts at 6pm if you are interested in the administrative workings of the group, but the Shindig itself begins at 7pm. The After-Party is almost never chosen beforehand so it's best to arrive at Bookmans no later than 9:30pm to get in on that discussion.
Note that these summaries do not replace actual meeting minutes, but hopefully is an accurate recap of the nights events.

these notes put me to shame!
Based on these notes, I think Dave should be our Procedural Secretary next year.
Do I hear any seconds? (c:
great notes
Love the site. Everything is looking great. Really missed coming up on a regular basis. The after-Shindig was a blast. See you all in April.
yes its me.
And a fun time was had by all!
Wonderful recap, David! And a fun time was had by all!
Again, my public and profuse apologies for missing the business meeting. But I had to get my Comic-Geek on, and two sold-out showings of the "Watchmen" pushed me a tad behind in my schedule...BTW - The movie is two hours and 45 minutes, not two hours and five minutes...in case you're crunched for time. ;-)
